Contractor License Exam Deadlines and Updates

For those of our readers who are looking into the construction license exams, our team at Licenses, Etc. wanted to share some new and updated information. All Construction exams are computer based through the state’s vendor PearsonVue except for the Plumbing (trade knowledge). That one exam is still administered in paper and pencil format multiple times per year in Orlando only.

The following is the schedule for the Plumbing Trade exam only.

August 12, 2020 – Deadline, July 12, 2020
October 14, 2020 – Deadline, September 13, 2020
December 9, 2020 – Deadline, November 13, 2020

Here is a COVID-19 Update for plumbing contractor candidates:

You have until close of business on July 29, 2020 to change your plumbing registration to a future exam date. If you decide to test in August, please be advised that Osceola County has a mandate that requires all people to wear face masks, inside and outside of buildings. You will also be required to have your temperature checked and answer a few questions before being admitted to the exam site. You will not be receiving your grade reports on site. You should receive them no later than Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

All of the other exams for any other type of license or the business and finance exam are computer based at Pearson VUE locations. Pearson Vue is reporting availability shortages in Florida and most are finding the earliest test dates are February or March. To schedule any computer-based examination, you must wait 7-10 business days after submitting your form through www.FloridaExam.com before calling Pearson VUE at 888-204-6230.

If you are having trouble scheduling your CBT exams with Pearson VUE, please try the following:
When trying to schedule with Pearson VUE, it is best, currently, to schedule online by creating an online account.
Candidates are advised to frequently check examination availability through their online account with Pearson VUE as seats may open due to cancellation or expanded capacity.
Check other locations. They will automatically give you the nearest location, but ask about others. This company has locations all over the US and you can take the Florida exam at any of them.
