Miami-Dade amended their rules regarding renewal of a certificate of competency. The county has eliminated in some cases the renewal fee and continuing education for those qualifying agents that are 65 and older and meet certain requirements.
A qualifying agent who has reached the age of 65 may renew his/her certificate of competency at no cost and shall be excused from the continuing education requirement provided for in Section 10-13.1, provided that the qualifying agent has held the certificate of competency for at least 20 years, and has never been found guilty by the Construction Trades Qualifying Board, Board of Rules and Appeals, or a Special Master Appeal Hearing Officer, of a criminal/civil violation pertaining to this Code or Florida Statute 489. The qualifying agent shall apply in person for the subject renewal.
We think this is long overdue. What do you think? Have you heard of other counties that do this? We would love to hear your thoughts!
