As everyone is aware, the grandfathering provision allowing Registered Electrical Contractors has certain stipulations. One being that the applicant must have, for that category, passed a written, proctored examination that the board finds to be substantially similar to the examination required to be licensed as a certified contractor today. Those companies automatically accepted by the state are listed as:
- National Assessment Institute
- Block and Associates
- NAI/Block
- Experior Assessments
- Professional Testing, Inc.
- Assessment Systems, Inc.
On Friday Sept. 20, 2013 Jay Bowermeister, CEO of Gainesville Independent Testing Service, LLC (GITS), appeared before the ECLB in Ft. Lauderdale to discuss GITS being added to the list of automatically approved vendors. The ECLB voted to accept GITS as being substantially similar to the firms listed in the statute as acceptable providers for Grandfathering. So now any individual who took Electrical exams from GITS, and meets the remainder of the qualifications, will qualify to grandfather their electrical registered license to a certified license.
This is good news for any of you who had questions about your exam! If you still have any other questions, feel free to contact your team here at Licenses, Etc. We are always here to help.
