WMBE CERTIFICATION

Licenses, Etc. is proud to announce that we have recently helped a qualified business obtain their Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise certification. Many of you may be wondering what the WMBE certification is and what the benefits are. In essence, the WMBE certification has been designed to help improve business opportunities that are available for minorities in Florida. Now to find out if YOUR business qualifies….

  • Business must be independently owned and operated, which has a net worth of no more than $5 million.
  • Have 200 or fewer full-time permanent employees.
  • Be of one of the following minority classifications listed below as well as be a citizen of the United States and a permanent resident of Florida.
    • African American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native-American, American Woman or Florida veteran.
    • If you are in an industry that requires licensure, the owner who is classified as a minority must be the qualifier for the license.
    • Have a business that is legally registered with the Secretary of State in Florida.
    • The minority owner (s) shall not have acquired their majority ownership of at least 51 percent of the applicant business through a transferal of ownership occurring within a minimum of two years, when the previous majority ownership interest in the business was by a non-minority who is or was a relative, former employer, or current employer of the minority persons on whom eligibility is based.
    • Be registered with My Florida Marketplace

Although the certification process is extensive, the approval of this certification through the Office of Supplier Diversity will allow your business to develop and gain many opportunities that it would not have otherwise.
