FICTITIOUS NAME RENEWALS

If you or your business is the owner of a fictitious name, otherwise known as a DBA, it is time to double check when you registered the DBA with the Secretary of State. You can do this by clicking here. Please note that your fictitious name is only valid for five years and will need to be renewed in the 5th year. If your DBA is due for a renewal, please know that this must be filed by December the 31st or the fictitious name will expire and will no longer be a valid “DBA” that you will be able to use for marketing or advertising purposes.

The renewal application is $50.00 and keeps your name valid for an additional five years. The application for renewal can be found here. You will need the registration number that handy, as the renewal application will require that you enter this in order to locate your fictitious name. If you are unsure what your registration number is, you can find it by searching for your DBA here. Once you are in the application, if you need to make any applicable changes (mailing address, physical address, FEIN, etc.) you are able to make these updates when submitting the application.

Typically, the renewal will be processed in 2-3 days and will be immediately available on the Secretary of State’s website for you to search.
