t Licenses, Etc., we take pride in giving the highest and best service in our industry. With that said, we want to share with our licensed contractor clients, or people who are thinking about getting a contractor’s license all the news, rules, and reminders that will help them get or keep their license.
One such rule is the reporting requirement for criminal convictions. As of October 1, 2009, Section 455.227(1)(t), Florida Statutes requires all professional licensees to report to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) within 30 days of being convicted or found guilty of, or having plead no contest or guilty to, regardless of adjudication, a crime in any jurisdiction. If a person previously reported a criminal conviction or plea to DBPR before, he or she does not need to report it again. This could be for something as small as a fishing license citation because technically that is a misdemeanor.
If a licensed contractor fails to report this information, he or she may be subject to disciplinary actions, including: fines, suspension, or license revocation.
To report criminal information, complete this criminal self-reporting document and mail it to the DBPR. If you have any questions regarding reporting this information, our team at Licenses, Etc. can help you. If you have yet to get your license, we can help include this information in your license application.
At Licenses, Etc., we can help you get your Florida contractor’s license quickly and as stress free as possible. There is no application or lengthy forms you have to fill out. Just provide us with basic information, and we will do the application process for you. We have helped thousands of Florida contractors get their licenses and form new businesses since 2007. Around 95 percent of our licensing packages are approved the first time with no deficiencies.
