We wanted to remind our contractor clients that your annual report for your business must be filed between now and May 1st – this report is filed each year. If you do not file this annual report by May 1st, you will have to pay an additional $400 late fee to keep your business from being dissolved for failure to file the annual report.
Around this time, the Florida Secretary of State sends out notices about the annual reports; however, there are scams going around asking you to file your annual minutes for your business, which can be confused with the REQUIRED filing of the annual report. The Department of State (or any state or government agency) does not need annual minutes to be filed. Company minutes can be completed in-house annually.
Be aware of this scam. It tells you there will be a $125 fee if you do not submit your annual minutes. Do not reply to this notice – it is fake!
Your annual report must be filed every year with the Florida Secretary of State to remain a current and active business.
