If you’re a contractor that builds or works on residential homes, one-third of the market for home buying right now is Millennials. In order to be successful, you need to attract this market, and different types of marketing efforts work on this generation.
What do Millennials want?
- Conscious contractors
- Responsive contractors
- Customer-centric contractors
- Community-involved contractors
You want your business to have an online presence, which means you need a website and/or social media pages that show up in the search engines. You need to update and post to your site and social media pages regularly. Millennials will likely also message you via chat options on the web instead of picking up the phone, so you will want to monitor these pages for client interactions and inquiries.
On your social media pages, share your work, client testimonials, work you do in the community, donations, new projects, YouTube videos with tips and instructions, innovative or sustainable ideas, etc.
Try to offer financing, if possible. Let them know if you take credit cards or whenever you are offering a promotion.
Make sure you are easy to find on the internet and keep all your sites and social media pages up-to-date and correct.
You don’t need to spend a lot to market to Millennials you just have to go where they are and focus your attention there while making your content appealing to them. If you do a lot of tip videos, they may call on you for a more serious job on their home, because they know you know what you’re doing.
These Millennial clients will also likely spread the word of your great business and your business will only grow from there!
Millenials will also be taking note if you are licensed or not, because they want someone credible working on their home, so they know their money is being well spent. It’s critical to get a Florida contractor’s license.
