EXPERIENCE CHANGING – YOU CAN HAVE A VOICE

There is an upcoming meeting that you may wish to attend. The Rules committee meeting is set for this Friday, March 13, 2015 in Altamonte Springs. They will be reviewing changes to be made to the qualifications for licensure.

Our friend, Joe Rebuck of Gold Coast School of Construction, said it best, “This proposed verbiage, while reflecting what the Board asks for at the application review committee meetings, is actually a  MAJOR change to the rule itself and the experience requirements that the DBPR staff will be looking for when they review the bulk of the license applications. This affects your business and you should be aware.”

If you disagree or want more specific changes you should consider attending the meeting to have your voice & opinions heard.

What is changing?

• They are taking out the language regarding which licenses can verify experience for all contractors. This will now match guidelines already in use by the reviewers.
• General or Building contractors need new, habitable commercial buildings as their experience.
• Residential contractors need new, habitable residential buildings as their experience.
• Specifically states that services falling under an exemption will not be accepted.
