On May 1st the fees for an initial issuance or qualifying an additional business entity application went up by $100 for all Construction Industry Licensing Board applications. The fees are now $249 for the initial issuance of a license qualifying one business and $209 to apply for a license to qualify an additional business in the same category. You may be kicking yourself that you missed this deadline, but just because the fees increased does not mean you are actually paying more overall.
Licenses applications right now will be issued with a renewal date of 2016, versus an August 2014 renewal date for those who were approved prior to the change. The individuals who pay a little more now will not have to pay renewal fees in August to keep the license current for another renewal cycle. No continuing education will be necessary until 2016 and as we all know, time is money. From what we can see, it is a win-win.
