It’s that time of year again: contractor license renewal. License renewals are separate from any application submitted. Even if you are currently working on an application or have recently submitted an application, your renewal must be done separately. Obviously, this does not include the initial issuance applications as they will be issued already valid through 2020, but for any current licenses being activated or transferred, etc.
For license renewal, please do your Continued Education (CEUs) and pay renewal fees. All licenses can be downloaded from your online account with the state once done – licenses are no longer mailed. Our team at Licenses, Etc. can help you with the license renewal process but we do not automatically renew licenses for anyone.
For proper license renewal, follow these three simple steps:
- Continuing Education– Contractors need to complete 14 hours board-approved continuing education every 2 years by 8/31 of an even numbered year. The only exceptions to this rule are:
- Inactive licensees do not need to do CEs until they wish to renew.
- Licensees who have been licensed more than 1 year, but less than 2 at the time of renewal (8/31/2018) only need to do 7 hours. This is based on date of issuance.
- Licensees who have been licensed less than 1 year do not have to do continuing education. This is based on date of issuance.
- Pay Renewal– This can be done with by check through the mail or online:
- The stub that the state sends can be returned with a check, but make sure the boxes are not marked unless:
- First box: You wish to update your address.
- Second box: You want to INACTIVATE your license.
(If nether is the case, leave these boxes blank)
- Online payments can be made at com. You can find more information on creating an account by visiting an old blog of ours here :http://www.licensesetc.com/blog/renewing-a-license/
- The stub that the state sends can be returned with a check, but make sure the boxes are not marked unless:
- Make Sure the License Updates –Double check the status of your license online until you see the new expiration date become 8/31/2020.
